Waltham City Election 2011 Guide: Matayabas and Bakalis Eliminated

Preliminary election will eliminate several candidates.

 

With the city’s preliminary election scheduled for today, Tuesday, Sept. 20, check out our guide to all things election, that you should know.

The election is only the preliminary election and will eliminate one candidate for each seat, leaving the remaining ones for the final election in November.

UPDATED, 9:23 p.m.: The November ballot for Ward 8 City Council seat, George Macary challenging incumbent Stephen Rourke.

The November ballot for School Committee will be incumbent Margaret Donnelly, Alice Taylor, Stephen Rando Jr., John Frassica, John Graceffa and Edmund Tarallo.

Total results for School Committee: David Mataybas — 172, Alice Taylor — 439, John Graceffa — 1,383, John Frassica — 1,035, Stephen Rando Jr — 688, Edmund Tarallo — 727, Margaret Donnelly — 954, ELIMINATED: David Mataybas

UPDATED, 9:21 p.m.: Results were just announced — David Matayabas was eliminated from the School Committee race and Albert Bakalis was eliminated from the City Council race. Stay tuned for details.

UPDATED, 8:21 p.m.: The polls are now closed and city officials are calculating the results. Numbers should be available soon. Stay tuned.

UPDATED, 1:05 p.m.: As of 1:05 p.m. 68 people had voted at the former Bright School polling location, a low turnout by any standard.As of about 12:30 p.m., 30 people had voted at the Kennedy Middle School, according to Sarah Hankinks, who is seeking a City Council seat, but is not on the ballot for this election.

In fact, the address is 494 Lincoln Street.
