Train Track Work Could Impact Waltham Commuters' Ride
The work could impact your commute.
Starting on April 21, the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Rail Company will commence weekend track work on the Fitchburg-Acton commuter line, which runs through Waltham.
According to the MBCR, the work will be done between the South Acton and Fitchburg station. The track work will be completed on Saturday, June 3.
While the actual work will not take place in Waltham, it could impact train service in Waltham. Customers should expect 25 minute delays.
Memorial Day weekend service, May 26-27, will run on regularly scheduled weekend service.
The work is designed to make the line double-tracked.
The work will impact all inbound and outbound trains on the weekend. Bus service will be available between the impacted area.
Inbound passengers from the Ayer, Shirley, North Leominster, Fitchburg and Littleton stations will be transported by bus to the South Acton station to get on the train to Boston. Outbound passengers will get off the train at South Acton to take buses to the Littleton, Ayer, Shirley North Leominster and Fitchburg stations.
