[POLL] Do You Want Food Trucks in Waltham?

Food trucks have become popular in surrounding towns, but Waltham does not have any ... yet.

Do you want food trucks in Waltham?

With the inclusion of one food truck at the Waltham Farmers Market comes the that question. While no public official has publicly mentioned the idea, Waltham could take a page from Brookline’s pilot program. In Brookline, selectmen have approved trucks on certain streets and each truck must pay a fee to obtain a license to operate in the city.

Food truck offerings often widely vary. Hot dogs, ice cream, cupcakes and Mexican food are just a few of the things offered in the food truck community.

Hi Joan,

I don't know if such trucks still visit those locations. Does anybody else know?

They do sell hotdogs there, but I don't believe it is from a food truck. Just a stand. I have about seven food trucks within walking distance of my office on any given day, and I love them. The choices are great and the prices are not bad. I am not sure where these would work in Waltham as there are not many places that offer both good foot traffic and convenient parking. Also, the Mood St. businesses would complain.

I think food trucks add something to an area, but can also be detrimental. In Waltham there arent that many good locations, and having one near moody would be a problem. However, I think it would be good for some trucks near the office complexes around 128. Not too many places to eat around there, and might be good for the owners of the office complexes to offer something different for its tenants. and make a little $$$ on renting space.

Hot dog guy is still at Home Depot. $2 hot dog with kraut, mustard, ketchup. Small dogs, but decent, and the guy is very friendly.
