Patch Picks: Picnic Spots

Looking for a place to enjoy a lazy picnic lunch on a warm afternoon? Here are some suggestions from Patch.

Prospect Hill Park - The park in Waltham has several acres of land to explore on paved paths, as well as activities such as basketball hoops and a playground. The park has grills to cook up something scrumptious.

Filippello Park - The Watertown Park stretches between Arlington Street and Grove Street and features a number of playing fields, a splash park and a picnic area equipped with grills.

Hillcroft Playground - The large playground in Waltham has activities for the kids, such as a jungle gym and slides, and also has picnic tables to set up your spread.

Arsenal Park - Tucked behind the Arsenal Mall on one side and separated from Greenough Boulevard by a fence on the other side, lies a green haven of fields and trees. Arsenal Park also has a picnic pavilion to sit down for a nice bite to eat.

Cannalonga Memorial Park - A small but scenic spot near the Charles River in Watertown, this park has plenty of parking, a nice trail and a picnic pavilion. If you need pinic supplies Russo'sis just around the corner.

Nice idea. I think one needs to reserve the picnicking spots in Prospect Hill Park in Waltham--they're worth it. Might be the same for other parks, too.
