Pair of Waltham Costco Workers Win $50 Million Powerball Jackpot

Winning ticket was sold at the Shell station on Waltham Street in Lexington.

Dec. 12, 2012 was more than a once-in-a-lifetime date. It was indeed a lucky day for Reginald LeBlanc and Rosa DeLeon, co-workers at the Costco in Waltham who reportedly are set to split a $50 million Powerball prize.

LeBlanc, of Lexington and DeLeon, of Arlington purchased a ticket on Dec. 12 at the Lexington Shell station on Waltham Street in Lexington that matched all six-numbers drawn last night, according to the Mass Lottery website and the organization’s Twitter feed.

According to a WBZ Newsradio Twitter feed, the pair works at the Costco warehouse in Waltham.

The winning numbers were 08-10-25-36-44, Power Ball 28, the Lottery website said. An official announcement will be made at 1:30 p.m. today at a press conference at lottery headquarters.

Powerball winners can choose between annual payments over 29 years or a lump sum of $33 million before taxes.

According to Boston.com, Adam Muise, the storeowner where the winning ticket was sold, said the main claiming to be the winner was back at the store today, Dec. 13.

He really didn’t say anything, just stood off to the side,” Muise said. “He was really calm.”

LeBlanc and DeLeon aren’t the only winners here.

According to the Lottery website, the storeowner will also benefit from this jackpot win by receiving a $50,000 commission, the top retailer commission offered in Massachusetts, for selling the lucky ticket
