NStar plans to start helicopter inspections of wires in Waltham on July 23, according to an announcement from the company.

A helicopter will begin inspections in Walpole and move up to the Waltham/Lexington area, according to the company. 

"This equipment helps engineers detect possible problems before they become visible to the naked eye, allowing them to schedule any necessary corrections before reliability issues arise.  Unlike the inspections NSTAR performed earlier this year, the current work will not require the helicopter to hover over transmission equipment for any length of time," the NStar announcement reads. 

 The inspections should end by the end of the week, according to NStar.
