UPDATE: Middlesex County Officer Killed in Early Morning Crash
The single-car crash happened Wednesday at 4 a.m. on Treble Cove Road in Billerica. The name of the driver has not been released.

The on-duty corrections officer who crashed his cruiser early Wednesday morning may have died from an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, the Lowell Sun is reporting.
Edward "Teddy" Dillon III, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene where his car had traveled into the edge of the Billerica State Forest on Treble Cove Road.
A spokesman for Middlesex County District Attorney Gerry Leone told the Lowell Sun that the crash was not suspicious and no charges are being filed.

Correction Officer Edward “Teddy” Dillon III of the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office was killed Wednesday morning in a single car crash in Billerica, according to a press release.
A Lowell resident, Dillion was 27 and had served with the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office since 2008.
Middlesex County Sheriff Peter Koutoujian released the following statement:
“My thoughts and prayers, as well as those of the entire Middlesex Sheriff’s Office, go out to Officer Dillon’s family, friends and colleagues. We know the work of correction officers is difficult and dangerous, but that does nothing to ease the pain and shock when we lose one of our own. The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office will work to ensure that our officers and the Dillon family have the support they need as we grieve Teddy’s passing.”
The Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction section is reviewing the details of the incident.

Massachusetts State Police are investigating a single-car crash involving a Middlesex County Sheriff's Department vehicle, killing the driver, according to FOX25.
The single-car crash happened Wednesday at 4 a.m. on Treble Cove Road in Billerica. The name of the driver has not been released.
The sheriff's headquarters is in Billerica, but there is an office in Framingham.
Massachusetts State Police spokesman David Procopio, in a statement, said a state police crash reconstruction team has been sent to the scene of the crash, but that no other details were being released yet.
Fox25 reported the sheriff's cruiser sustained heavy front-end damage.
There is no word on the cause of the accident.
