Man Clearing Snow Falls Through Window in Waltham

Worker sustained non-life threatening injuries.

A 21-year-old man working on the roof of a local industrial park fell through a skylight today sustaining non-life threatening injuries

The man was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston for treatment for his injures, according to Waltham Fire Deputy Chief Thomas MacInnis. The deputy chief said legal restrictions prohibited him from naming the man.

The incident started at 12:59 p.m. today when the man, who was shoveling snow off of the roof of the industrial park at 108 Clematis Ave., suddenly fell through the skylight window of a printing business, MacInnis said. The man fell 20-25 ft. hitting a sprinkler pipe before landing on some boxes, MacInnis said.

“That broke his fall,” MacInnis said. “He got lucky."

Firefighters found the man conscious, and alert, he said. An American Medical Response ambulance transported him to the hospital, he said.
