The bond between pets and their owners can is often unbreakable. We'd do anything for our furry friends, and in return, we get unconditional love and a best friend for life.

Almost all of us pet-people have a story about how we met our companion. In a twist on Valentine's Day, let's share our stories of how we met our love—our dogs, our cats, our bunnies, our hamsters, our Beta fish, our lizards... you get the idea.

I remember when I first met my best friend, Mollie, a blind black lab who died in 2010 at age 12. My mother had worked with a woman who was Mollie's foster mother and offered to give Mollie a permanent home at my house. A short time later, Mollie came to live with us, as well as my cat, Coco, and Golden Retriever, Sophie.

I vividly remember Mollie's foster family bringing her to the house for the first time and letting her roam around and make a mental map of the to allow her to navigate. Mollie, who had been with several foster families before arriving at my house, was extremely shy at first, but after several months emerged from her shell and blossomed into a happy dog that loved to socialize, bark and most of all, eat! The dog had a bottomless stomach! Mollie, who suffered from several medical conditions, died in 2010, but not before a final outing to get some tasty vanilla ice cream!
