Want to help make the Charles River Riverwalk even better? The Waltham Land Trust and the Trustees of Reservations will host an invasive plant removal work party on Wednesday, August 3, from 12:30 - 2:30pm. We will clear the trails up/downstream of the Moody Street Dam of Japanese Knotweed, an invasive plant that completes with and crowds out our native vegetative community. Meet at Landry Park downstream of the Moody St. Dam. Tools and instruction provided. Pre-registration not required but helpful: email swadman@walthamlandtrust.org with questions.

The walkway is a beautiful and serene way to get out for a walk or run while enjoying natural beauty along the river. It is calm and peaceful, much more safe than jogging along the roadways in the city. Unfortunately it has become overun in my area of Watertown and Newton with bikeriders who are not just out for a ride, many are racing and in the company of 1 or 2 others. A person with children and /or a baby carriage should not have to be jumping out of the way of people on bikes all the while being yelled at, "ON YOUR RIIGHT...ON YOUR RIGHT". Not pleasant anymore as there are
so many. It gets real interesting when they are coming at you and from behind, neither has any intention of slowing fown and one has to grab a child and jump off the path. Is it a walkway or a bikeway? Bikers should be made to use bike paths because there is always that portion of the population who are "entitled to do as I please" with no regard for others......even children......making what should be a wonderful outdoor experience an unpleasant excursion.
