Have You Seen this Alleged Waltham Carjacker?

Police believe Scott Steverding carjacked a woman outside of the CVS on Harvard Street on Aug. 14.

Waltham Police are searching for a 30-year-old Waltham man accused of carjacking a woman by threatening her with a needle he claimed had HIV.

At around 11:42 a.m., police believe Scott Steverding approached the car, a blue 1999 Jeep Cherokee, outside of the CVS Pharmacy on Harvard Street and threatened to stab her with a needle he claimed had HIV-filled blood in it, police said in a press release. Steverding took control of the car, after the woman got out, and fled west. Steverding nearly struck the woman with the car, but she was uninjured, police said.

The car's license plate is 872LV4, police said.

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate Steverding, police said. Security camera footage from CVS shows Steverding in the area at the time of the incident.

Police are investigating the incident and plan to charge Steverding with attempted murder, armed car jacking and assault by means of a dangerous weapon.
