Grand Jury Indicts Two Men Accused of Waltham Shooting

Police believe the men shot out the window of a car in late 2011.

A Middlesex Superior Court grand jury has indicted two men authorities believe shot at a car in December of 2011.

Hassan Swanigan, 22, of Boston, and Jose Miranda, 26, of Roxbury were indicted recently on various charges, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney's office.

The indictment means both men could face more serious punishment than they would if their cases were adjudicated at Waltham District Court, according to the Massachusetts Office of Victims Assistance.

Specifically, Swanigan faces charges of carrying a sawed off shotgun without a license to carry, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, carrying a loaded sawed off shotgun and malicious damage to a motor vehicle, according to the DA's office.

Miranda faces the same charges as well as negligent operation of a motor vehicle and being an armed career criminal, according to the DA's office.
