Five New Crosswalks Coming to Waltham
The Traffic Commission recently approved new crosswalks in two different Waltham locations.

Five new crosswalks have been approved for Waltham.
A new crosswalk will be installed across Elm Street to accommodate students of the Waltham Creative Start school at 169 Elm St., according to the Dec. 19 Traffic Commission meeting minutes.
A school official requested the crosswalk to help students cross Elm and Benefit streets to the McKenna Playground, according to the Traffic Commission minutes. The school recently relocated to the 169 Elm St. location.
Four new crosswalks will also be installed at the four approaches of the intersection of Banbury Avenue and Berkley Street, according to the Traffic Commission minutes. Waltham Public Schools Safety Officer Ann Frassica made the crosswalk request. A stop sign will also be installed for westerly traffic on Berkley Street, according to the minutes.

I would also love to see the Traffic Commission move to install overhead signage westbound at the intersection of Weston St. and South St. that specifically indicates the left turn only for South St. Too many close calls recently with those who do not pay attention to/can't see the painted lane markings.

It would also be beneficial a one way sign, or wrong way if heading west on Charles street (for cars heading south on Harvard street and turning right). There's quite a few vehicles that almost make it all the way to the light at prospect.. Which is terrible because cars turning off prospect right into Charles usually with cars parked on the side get greeted with head on collision scenarios.

Even more dangerous is the intersection at Main Street and Harvard Street. There is a left lane only to turn left onto Harvard Street from Main Street, however every day, at least for the last year, I have watched pedestrians and fellow drivers almost get killed by people blowing straight through the left lane only. Just this morning I stopped for someone in the crosswalk at Moe's Southwest Grill and the car to my left (in the left lane only) blew threw the intersection and wacked the pedestrians hand with his vehicle. This happens EVERY.DAY. I have already requested a police detail from the Waltham Police Department, but as usual, they have not responded to my request. EVERY DAY someone is almost killed at this intersection. How hard is it to enforce safety in this town?
