Five Guys Details Plans for Waltham

The burger chain would be located at the Main Street Marketplace.

Plans for a Five Guys burger chain restaurant in Waltham took one step closer to becoming a reality on Oct. 22.

Five Guys representatives, during the Oct. 22 Waltham City Council meeting, presented details of its plans for the restaurant to be built at the Main Street Marketplace.

The company's application for a fast food permit, which is required to open its doors, was referred to the City Council's Ordinance & Rules Committee for further review.

The store would span 2,501 square feet and have 56 interior seats as well as some exterior seats, according to the attorney Joseph Connors, an attorney for Five Guys. The store would open at 11 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. daily, Connors said. The restaurant's peak hours would likely be 12 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. and 5 - 7 p.m., according to Marc Magerman, the franchisee for the Waltham location.

The restaurant is not planning a drive-thru window or alcohol service, according to Magerman, the franchisee for the Waltham location.

In addition to burgers and fries, the restaurant would offer grilled cheese sandwiches and vegetable sandwiches, Connors said.

Panera Bread, Chipotle and Massage Envy also have plans for stores at the Main Street Marketplace site. Another store, iParty, has already opened at the site.

The hours sound good to me. The plaza should close at 10pm. Add a high-end exhaust scrubber so we don't have to smell the burgers and fries. Then I enthusiastically support the fast food permit!

Is there an announced/estimated time for when they're going to be open for business? I want one NOW.

Adam,

The franchisee has not said when it would open, but Five Guys HQ has said they are aiming for January of 2013.
