UPDATED, 11:16 a.m.: Six patients are being transported to area hospitals by ambulances from Waltham, Wayland and Weston, according to scanner traffic.

A five-car crash has been reported on Route 128 north in Waltham, according to scanner and Twitter traffic. 

The crash occurred around 11 a.m. south of Exit 26, according to Matthew Carter, who tweets police and fire incidents under the Twitter name of @matredsoxfan2. At least five people have been injured.
