UPDATED: Fire At Home Of Waltham Funeral Director Contained; No Injuries

Firefighters are responding to a three-alarm fire at the Brasco Funeral Home.

UPDATED, 7:20 p.m.: The home is a total loss and the fire is under investigation, according to WBZ-TV. Wayne Brasco, who was in the house at the time of the fire, escaped unharmed, according to WCVB-TV.

UPDATED, 3:39 p.m.: The funeral home was not damaged in the blaze and the fire has been contained, according to Interim Waltham Fire Chief Michael Quinn. Smoke, however, is still rising from the private home where the fire occured. Wayne Brasco, who owns the funeral home, owns the house where the fire occured at 91 Orange St., according to city records. Two people were home when the flames broke out, but firefighters got them out safely, Quinn said.

The flames were first reported at 2:19 p.m. and quickly spread from the first floor of the private home to the third floor and attic, according to Quinn. There is no word on the cause of the fire.

Firefighters are responding to a three-alarm fire at the property of Brasco & Sons Funeral Home in Waltham.

No injuries have been reported in the fire which struck a private home that is behind the funeral home at 91 Orange St., Waltham Patch correspondent Charlie Breitrose reports from the scene.

Details are still scant, but firefighters have been ordered out of the building after part of the building collapsed, according to Twitter user @NEFirebuff.

The building is 2.5 stories. Weston and Newton firefighters are assisting.
