FBI: 'Nothing Nefarious' About Waltham Plane Incident

Plane's owner had reported vehicle missing.

There is "nothing nefarious" about a that landed on the roof a federal building in Waltham earlier tonight, according the FBI.

In a statement released tonight, the FBI, in a statement, said the plane, which landed on the roof of the federal National Archives building at 380 Trapelo Rd., caused "little to no damage to the building and a preliminary examination of the plane indicated it did not carry any harmful material."

"Preliminarily, there appears to be nothing nefarious about this event," the statement reads.

The plane's owner, a remote-controlled plane enthusiast, had reported the plane missing earlier in the day, and possibly on top of the building, according to the FBi.

According to various Twitter reports, the Waltham Fire Department, at 4:55 p.m., responded to a report of a 6 foot remote-controlled plane crashing into the roof of the facility. Firefighters checked the roof for damage and cleared the scene as federal Department of Homeland Security officers responded to the scene.
