Elderly Woman in Serious Condition After Waltham Crash

The victim was taken to a local hospital after the car she was driving hit a utility pole.

 

An 88-year-old woman is in serious condition after the car she was driving struck a utility pole at around 1:38 p.m., according to Waltham Police.

The incident began when officers responded to a report of a car crashing into the pole at 135 Second Ave. Officers found the 2005 Buick Rendezvous had struck the police. 

The woman was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital where she is being treated for her injuries, according to police. 

The Waltham Police Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.

I mean no disrespect in any way but 88 years old ? There has to be an age when people shouldn't drive anymore .... or a yearly driving/visual test after 75 or something ... I mean if a child was there, they'd be dead ... and I see some of these old timers going like 15 MPH down a 40 MPH road .. and swerving at that.. just glad my son wasn't playing in that area that day...
