Brandeis University Investigating Officer for Verbally Abusing Student

Officer allegedly swore at student according to campus paper.

Brandeis University Police are investigating a campus police officer for allegedly using inappropriate language with a student, according to The Justice, the campus student newspaper.

A student, whom the paper only identified as "Brian" told the publication the officer asked him if whether he was "challenged" during a dispute over the student parking illegally. Brian was allegedly parked in a fire hydrant zone, but told the officer he had not realized it, according to the newspaper.

The officer the told the student, "Are you [expletive] stupid? Are you challenged?” the paper reported.

The officer attempted to reach the student by phone prior to the incident but Brian said he picked up his phone "the first time it was called," according to the newspaper, which cited the university's report on the incident.

The officer then wrote Brian a ticket and waited for him to return to the car. The officer allegedly asked the student whether he had special permission to park near a hydrant.

The newspaper did not specify when the incident took place or identify the officer.

More information on the incident.

Pegwuk. Everyone's so sensitive today. Did he hurt your feelings? Remind him that you're on your way to a brilliant future, and he's a campus rent a cop. Now who's stupid?

Must be a pretty slow news day for this to be the lead story. The amazing part is that that A) the cop used the politically correct word 'challenged', and B) that Brandeis cops call you up first before thinking about ticketing your car. Brutal.

Please, a Brandeis student, smart, select, one of "the best" doesn't see a fire hydrant? Then cries about it for being caught! It's called taking responsibility for ones actions. What happens when he's in the real world and his manager says... You made a mistake, caused people to be hurt, possibly die, I have to fire you. Who will he cry to then? Brandeis, teach your students there are consequences for your actions. You and you alone are responsible for you. Is this one of the kids who constanly heard, "Good job" even when they didn't do a good job? Wonderful. Give the kid the ticket. Poor baby, someone doubted his intelligence. I do! He's lucky I wasn't the cop writing the ticket!

Oh grow up "Brian."

You're not as special as you think you are. I wonder if he pulled the "Do you know who my parents are?"

If there had been a fire I'm sure he would've complained the fireman scratched his car with the hose.

Re Dan's comment - The cop was trying to just get the car moved and he probably mouthed off.

If I were the cop, I would have asked Brian, "Did you go to school on a short bus?"
