Former senate candidate Alan Khazei has endorsed state Senate Joe Kearns Goodwin, according to Goodwin's campaign.

"Joe is a great candidate who has dedicated his life to service," Khazei said in a press release. "Joe will be an outstanding State Senator. He represents the very best of what I believe is the next greatest generation of Americans who have served this country through the military in Iraq and Afghanistan, AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, VISTA and other service programs.  We need to encourage and support new leaders like Joe to get involved in politics and government." 

Goodwin hailed Khazei for the nod. 

“Alan Khazei is someone who has spent his career helping young people give back to their communities through City Year and national service and I am honored to have his endorsement. We both share a passion and dedication to effect positive change through public service,” Goodwin said.

Khazei made the announcement during a July 14 book drive event he and Goodwin held at More Than Words in Waltham. The drive netted more than 260 books, according to Goodwin's campaign.
