A developer has proposed a new shopping and residential complex at the intersection of Main and Moody Streets, which the City Council's Ordinance and Rules Committee has taken under review.

To get a better idea of how it would look, check out the presentation above. The visuals are meant to give residents an idea of how it would look and are not considered final renderings.

when this is done, will there still be space for the Farmer's Market?

Build it. Downtown needs a large development like this to revitilize the area. Farmers Market could move to the Common.

When this project was first proposed, we were told a special courtyard would be created for the Farmers Market. Apparently that was dropped. It is unlikely that the market will be able to run there once the project is completed.

Yes! I love that the proposed design reflects the original historical buildings. Waltham needs these developments.

How can we we support the Farmers' Market in it's current size with loosing so many parking spaces.

We could walk, or take the bus, or ride a bike. Couldn't we?

The plan is to build three five-story buildings housing 269 residences, 392 parking spaces, and ground-level retail spaces. The development will span 340,000 sq ft, to be completed by fall 2015.

If there are more businesses that attract shoppers, will parking for non-residents of the building be a problem? A large number of parking spaces in the municipal garage are reserved for commuters with stickers. I recently had to give up going to lunch on Main St. because there were no spaces. Cars were circling in the garage hoping one would become available. Could some of the commuter spaces in the municipal garage be designated for non-sticker parking on weekends?
