Waltham American Legion Band Crosses Borders into Canada
The Waltham American Legion Band put on an impromptu performance for The Super 8 Hotel, guests and for public of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada on Thursday, August 16, 2012 and were invited guests and performed at the Canadian National Exhibition(CNE) in Toronto on Saturday August 18, 2012 for the Warriors Day Parade.
The Waltham American Legion Band is seeking new musicians. No audition is required. Openings exist in all sections. Membership in the American Legion is not required.
The Waltham American Legion Band is well known throughout Greater Boston and New England, founded by Dot Slamin Hill in 1948. The band has traveled to Great Britain, Ireland and the former Soviet Union as well as stateside trips to Hawaii, California, New Orleans, Reno, Salt Lake City, Louisville and Washington DC. The band will be traveling to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in August, 2012. The band pays travel and lodging expenses and uniforms are supplied. Need an instrument? We will help!
Of the 70 band members, our musical abilities range from college graduates with music degrees to those who played in military bands or at the high school or college level.
Rehearsals are on Monday evenings at 7 pm at the American Legion Post #156, 215 Waverly Oaks Road in Waltham, MA. For more information, please contact:
