RCN BLASTS PAST COMPETITORS WITH INTERNET SPEED UPGRADE
Base Speed Increased to 20 Mbps
BOSTON – November 4, 2011 – RCN Boston, a leading provider of all-digital television, high speed Internet and phone services, announced that on October 7th, 2011, they have upgraded entry level Internet speeds to the highest in the market, 20 Mbps, ensuring that every RCN customer will enjoy a faster online experience.
“We are pleased to offer our customers this significant upgrade, which demonstrates our firm commitment to providing RCN customers the most cutting-edge, state-of-the-art services,” said Jeff Carlson, General Manager of RCN. “Our customers have high expectations and we are proud to be one of the first providers to significantly increase our base download speed, enhancing the quality of our services.”
The speed increase will allow all RCN customers to enjoy a faster online experience, enabling them to download and stream videos and video chat without interruption. It will also represent a significant improvement in download time for residential customers running more than one Internet device. The speed upgrade will be reflected immediately. Current customers simply need to reboot their computer.
In addition to the upgrade in high speed Internet services, the RCN customer experience has been further enhanced by increased network reliability, greater telephone dependability and straightforward bundle pricing with RCN’s 3-year price assurance program and simplified, easier-to-understand billing statements.
RCN has further improved the customer experience through its exclusive partnership with the industry’s gold standard digital video recorder, TiVo Premiere, and the release of the free TiVo App for iPhone and iPod touch. The TiVo app provides RCN customers with on-the-go access to all TiVo features including the option to search the entire RCN Video On Demand catalog and their “Now Playing” list right from their handheld device.
