George W. Maher of Waltham died Sunday January 16, 2011 in newton Wellesley Hospital. He was 76 years old. Mahar worked for 30 years at the Polaroid Corporation as a production manager. In his youth, he attended St. Mary's High School and graduated from Boston College. He was an avid gardener and also enjoyed spending his time skiing or playing  tennis and golf. His funeral mass was held at St. Mary's, Waltham and he was interred in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made in his name to the charity of one's choice.
